John grew up in Washington, DC and attended Georgetown Law School, where he graduated cum laude. After graduation, John and his wife, Jenny, moved out of the city and back to her home state of Wyoming as quickly as possible. They have been enjoying the skiing, biking, and wide-open spaces of Wyoming ever since.
John began his legal career clerking for the Honorable Kelly Rankin in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming and practices at the Spence Law Firm, where he gained experience litigating a wide variety of issues in both Wyoming’s State and Federal Courts.
John then left private practice to join the Teton County Attorneys Office where he represented the Housing Department in numerous development projects and the Planning Department in both application review and judicial challenges to the departments decisions.
In private practice, John has a diverse real estate practice that includes representing buyers and sellers in residential transactions, representing numerous local developers and contractors, and helping national firms new to the Jackson market with entitlements, approvals, and local contracting.
John also maintains a limited litigation practice focused on post-construction and post-closing disputes, as well as some general matters for existing clients of the firm.
