R. Michael Mullikin

In Memoriam

Mike Mullikin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, December 31, 1942. He died September 19, 2006, after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. He was a founding partner of Mullikin, Larson & Swift LLC together with David Larson and Phelps H. Swift, Jr.

Mike earned his B. S. at the University of Wyoming in 1966. He earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Wyoming Law School in 1967. He was an editor of the Wyoming Land and Water Review from 1965 to 1967. Mr. Mullikin was admitted to practice in Wyoming and the U.S. District Court, District of Wyoming, in 1967. In 1973, he was admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and was admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1983.

He served as Assistant County and Prosecuting Attorney for Laramie County, Wyoming in 1970 and was a Municipal Judge for the City of Cheyenne from 1973-1974. He served as a Ninth Judicial District Court Commissioner for Teton County, Wyoming. He was a member of the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Court, District of Wyoming; the Teton County and American Bar Associations; the Wyoming State Bar (Ninth Judicial District Commissioner, 1979-1981; Defense Lawyers Association of Wyoming; and the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association.

He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him.
